DREAM

Client: Music group NEONOVAYA AURA
Objective
To create an animated music video for the band’s track, paying homage to modern Asian cities illuminated by vibrant neon lights. The narrative was designed to convey a sense of hope by the end of the story.Story concept
The story follows a young woman who longs to escape a reality defined by alienation and disconnection. By chance, she finds herself in another world, where she meets a character from her own sketches. Together, they experience the dream she has always longed to live.Production process

Character Design
The characters were designed to reflect the contrast between the heroine’s cold, alienating reality and the warmth of the world she dreams of. Her muted color palette, oversized scarf, and slightly oversized clothing emphasize her vulnerability and sense of detachment from her surroundings. The boy, inspired by her own sketches, represents the possibility of connection and a more hopeful reality.Visual Style Research
The track’s sound, harmonic structure, and lyrics evoke a retro aesthetic reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. The main visual reference was neo-noir, a genre characterized by troubled characters, existential emptiness, and the neon-lit streets of the night city. The music video’s narrative reflects these elements, while its ending replaces the genre’s characteristic sense of hopelessness with a feeling of hope.

A color palette reflecting the romantic mood of the track was developed, while the visual style of early anime was reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.

Scenes

The chaotic rhythm of the metropolis, neon signs, and advertising banners create visual noise that engulfs the cityscape. Artificial light supplants natural darkness, and the starry sky is hidden behind an endless stream of lights and images.

However, the heroine manages to break free from her everyday reality and enter a fairy-tale world where the boundaries between dreams and reality no longer exist. Instead of the lights of billboards, a boundless starry sky unfolds before her, and tiny planets transform into an entire universe where she can share simple moments of happiness with another person.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Client: Russian Kynological Federation
Objective
To create an educational animated video about the domestication of the ancient ancestors of dogs — paleowolves.Story concept
40,000 years ago, hunger brought paleowolves and hunters together on the same path. Yet instead of hostility, trust emerged. Hunting together marked the beginning of the oldest friendship between humans and dogs. This video reminds us of how this bond began and why it’s important to treat our four-legged friends with respect.Production process
Cartoon character development
Character Design
Four character designs were developed for the animation: one paleowolf and three human characters. To ensure the paleowolf’s appearance was historically plausible, I consulted a history expert from the Russian Kynological Federation. Since Cro-Magnons lived during that period, the human characters were designed with flattened head shapes and stocky bodies to reflect their physical appearance.

Visual Style Research
The visual language of the animation was inspired by the decorative qualities of prehistoric cave paintings and petroglyphs. The landscapes were intentionally simplified to reflect the ancient setting and evoke the raw, primitive atmosphere of prehistoric times.
