A solo exhibition titled «A Burnt Child Loves the Fire» by artist Daria Arbuzova has opened at the SISTEMA Gallery.
Here, the artist examines the phenomenon of beauty within the context of danger and trap. Arbuzova sculpts objects from glass and plastic, integrating neural networks and analog collage. This peculiar combination renders the works simultaneously delicate and unsettling.

The exhibition «A Burnt Child Loves the Fire» explores the power and danger of beauty. The key to understanding the project lies in the ancient Greek concept of «pharmakon,» which simultaneously means poison and medicine. The viewer has no right to choose its meaning; they must submit to an irrational fear while being captivated by the beauty of the flowers.

Arbuzova’s works resemble implements of torture or poisonous flowers poised to drop from the most delicate stems—a technique that introduces unstable equilibrium. This is the exhibit’s central conceit: the viewer falls into the trap not because they were deceived, but because they willingly chose to move closer. Beauty functions as bait—it disarms before any sense of caution can register.
