In the paintings of artist Pyotr Mikhailov-Gorodetsky, Russian themes are revealed through familiar and recognizable imagery. A snow-covered village house evokes memories of winters spent with family. A wide-open window offers a view of the river and green fields. Other works focus on sunflowers, domestic fowl, apples, and elements of peasant life. Every detail invites the viewer to linger and recall their own encounters, places, and moments.Mikhailov-Gorodetsky paints freely and expressively. Light filters through dense brushstrokes, and the colors convey the mood of the season and the vibrant feeling of nature. The large canvases—some measuring two by two meters—unfold the narrative almost like a panorama. The viewer finds themselves inside the depicted space, near the house, amidst flowers, or gathered around a set table. On September 27th at 1:30 PM, a solo exhibition by Pyotr Mikhailov-Gorodetsky will open at the Solovyev Art Residence in St. Petersburg. Admission is free, by prior appointment only. Space is limited.
