LIS SYNTHESIZER

The web synthesizer is dedicated to the Life is Strange game series, particularly the franchise’s main characters: Max and Chloe.

The web synthesizer features two voices (melodies), each corresponding to a specific character. Max is linked to Syd Matters’ song «Obstacles,» specifically the phrase, «We played hide and seek in waterfalls.» Chloe is associated with Local Natives' «Mt Washington,» using the line, «I don’t have to see you right now.»When each voice plays, you can hum a phrase and recognize the familiar motif. Furthermore, cycling through the tempos creates a symbiosis between the voices—though not immediately obvious. In this way, as the creator, I illustrate the differences between the characters while also showcasing their harmony at a pivotal moment.
Initial prompt for claude.ai: «I need to create a web synthesizer that features several independent sounds activated by buttons; beats from the Korg KR-55 Sample Pack; horizontal strips with sliders that allow me to add or subtract effects on the composed melody; an Oscillator; a Filter; an Amplifier; a Sequencer; and a control panel. The code shouldn’t be overly complex—I need to understand what it says.»

The visual style was developed independently. An example of the visual is the main menu from the latest installment in the «Life is Strange: Reunion» series.

Next, I used my own design to «trim away» unnecessary effects and achieve the cleanest possible interface. In the end, the remaining tools are: 2 voices, tempo, speed, oscillator (waveform, octave, detune), and filter (type, frequency, resonance).

Final Web Synthesizer Design
The plan for the end of the module is to augment the melodies with custom sound controls (keys, beats, a full pitch and beat modification panel). Furthermore, the sound library itself will be expanded in both quantity and range. The overall design will remain consistent and will be further supplemented with original authorial elements.
