What happens to the world if we stop considering the human being its main character? This question forms the core of the exhibition «The Silence of the Star, ” currently running at MMOMA on Gogolevsky Boulevard.
The exhibition evolved from the open MOMA competition held in collaboration with the «SOYUZ» cultural project, from which 70 works by contemporary artists were ultimately selected, and curator Alexey Korsy chose the theme to align with these pieces.
The exhibition title sets its tone: here, attention shifts from grand events to what usually remains at the periphery of our view. Plants push through concrete, traces of others’ lives persist in objects, the body interacts with its environment, and time transforms familiar spaces. These processes exist independently of humanity, but it is through them that artists invite us to see the everyday differently.
Beyond the theme of memory and relationship with the environment, there is a more profound shift: the human being is no longer perceived as the sole point of reference. Nature, technology, the material environment, and time are not mere backdrops to human life—they are independent forces. «Silence of the Star» gathers works where this transition can be seen not as a philosophical formula, but through concrete images and situations.
