About My Work

I am a Character & Costume Designer interested in visual storytelling and the way clothing expresses personality, background, and emotion.

My work combines character research, visual development, costume illustration, and attention to materials and detail. I enjoy exploring different visual styles and finding ways to make each character feel distinct.

I work with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Procreate. My experience in project coordination has also taught me to approach creative work with structure and attention to detail.

Tess of the d’Urbervilles

Educational Costume Design Project

Based on Thomas Hardy’s novel, this project explores costume design for Tess, Alec, Angel, and several supporting characters. The challenge was to create distinct visual identities while keeping all the characters within one coherent visual world. My approach combined character analysis, historical references, and a lighter, illustrative style.

From Character to Costume

I began by studying the characters’ personalities, relationships, and backgrounds. Historical references helped establish the period and provided a foundation for the silhouettes, fabrics, and details.I then explored how these elements could be translated into a more illustrative visual language without losing the historical character of the costumes. The aim was to balance historical references with clear, expressive designs.

From Sketch to Fabric

Alongside the illustrations, I explored the practical side of costume design by selecting fabrics and sewing one of Tess’s dresses, including its headpiece.Working with the actual materials allowed me to connect the drawn concept with the physical qualities of the costume. This part of the project brought the design beyond the page and into a wearable form.

Peer Gynt

Educational Costume Design Project

This project is based on the Yermolova Theatre production of Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt. I independently developed costume designs for the characters across the production.Historical references and traditional Norwegian clothing served as a starting point. I reinterpreted recognisable elements through a darker, more expressive visual approach.

Tradition, Reinterpreted

Traditional Norwegian dress informed the costumes’ silhouettes, accessories, and decorative details. Rather than reproducing historical clothing literally, I used these references to build a stylised visual language suited to the production.Rough brushwork, expressive shapes, and a darker palette helped establish the atmosphere and distinguish this project from my other work.

A Cast of Contrasts

The designs cover a range of characters, including Peer in two acts, his mother, Solveig, Ingrid, the Troll and his daughter, and the Button Moulder. Each costume was developed as part of the same theatrical world, with individual silhouettes and details helping define the characters.

The costumes combine recognisable references to Norwegian folk dress with stylised forms and expressive details.

Accessories and decorative elements help establish each character’s identity, while the shared visual language keeps the designs connected.

The contrast between the characters was as important as the unity of the production: each needed to stand out without feeling disconnected from the world around them.
