Summary
This project analyzes 'The Miser» (L’Avare) by Molière and its film adaptation by Louis de Funès, exploring themes of miserliness, control, fear of loss, and the conflict between money and affection. Set in the social context of 17th-century France, the work critiques how materialism and patriarchal power damage human relationships through satire and exaggerated comedy.
Inspired by this analysis, the project develops a sustainable fashion brand that redefines «miserliness» as care, durability, and conscious consumption. The brand transforms old family garments into contemporary pieces while preserving their emotional and historical value, opposing fast fashion through recycling, artisanal processes, and timeless quality.
With the slogan «Every thread matters» («Chaque fil compte»), the brand combines Baroque-inspired aesthetics, irony, and social critique to create clothing that values memory, permanence, and sustainability.
