WITH AND MADE BETTER

CHIBICHIK ALENASenior Product Designer at RSHB (Russian Agricultural Bank), mentor, and speaker. I have been designing mobile B2C interfaces for fintech products for over 5 years. I am co-founder of the women’s community, and a student at the HSE Art and Design School.
MY PRINCIPLES
1 / NOT SCREENS, BUT A PRODUCTSI don’t just complete tasks; I build systemic solutions based on an understanding of business needs and user pain points.2 / TEAM & LEADERSHIPI organize the work of small design teams, prioritize workloads, and initiate and implement design processes. communicate key ideas, resolve conflicts3 / EMOTIONS + FUNCTIONS + BUSINESSI balance and break down product requirements—conducting research, implementing animations, and working with metrics.
HOW I WORK / RUSSIAN AGRICULTURAL BANK
GOALInterest rates on savings products have fallen, and users are opening fewer savings accounts. We need to bridge the gap of accounts opened.
SOLUTIONThe idea is to provide a more human-centric reason for opening a savings account—focusing not on the banking product itself, but on the purpose behind it: such as a vacation, a car, an education, or other goals.
FLOWThe flow is designed to be as simple as possible: we use the existing process for opening a savings account as a foundation, but implement a custom offer page, thereby minimizing development time.We then prompt the user to specify a target amount and a timeframe via a bottom sheet—these inputs have no impact on the actual development, but they provide us with simple data points to simulate the journey toward a financial goal.

ARTIFACTS AND DETAILSThoughtful details matter in every task: we acvisition users using standard tools like banners and stories. We keep track of those who may have skipped the step of setting a deadline, gently reminding them to add one.If a deadline has passed, we highlight this without any unnecessary negativity by suggesting an extension, all while consistently showing the progress made.
RESULTAs a result, we have delivered the first and only solution for goal-based savings in the Russian fintech one that resonates emotionally with users, fosters loyalty, and drives an increase in the number of accounts opened.
HOW I WORK / OZON BANK
PROBLEMIn total, we lose 64% of users between the point of ordering a plastic card and their first external transaction.
UNDERSTANDING AND PROCESSWe formed a hypothesis: a widget featuring actions and a progress visualization would help increase conversions at every stage of the funnel, as well as boost user engagement for continued use.Next, I looked at some references and designed several widget variations with a different focus

RESEARCH AND TESTINGUsing these widgets, I conducted a «first click» test and a pathway analysis. Through these tests, I identified the widget that was the most user-friendly and appealing.
FLOWThe widget was designed as a step-by-step flow, guiding the user from obtaining a card to selecting a loyalty program, making a purchase, and receiving a bonus via a «wheel of fortune» spin. The user journey design accounted for various alternative scenarios. For instance, the «wheel of fortune» would vary depending on the chosen loyalty program, offering either cashback or «stars» as a reward to the user. The flow does not introduce new screens; instead, it reuses the logic of existing ones to streamline development.
DETAILS AND RESULTA user might not yet have a payment card, or their card might not yet be activated. Consequently, we decided to make this step more flexible. When a user interacts with this stage, a contextual window appears, informing them of their current status and the steps required to complete the process. As a result, this feature increased the number of initial transactions, and it was further refined and improved in subsequent iterations.
OTHERS
This is just a small selection of my work, but it effectively illustrates my approach combining UI design with research.Beyond my primary professional work, I also have several study project that I particularly enjoy:

WINGLYFor me, airports are a major source of distress. I experience intense anxiety before a flight, fearing that I might be late. That is why I decided to design a mobile app that automates and simplifies the process of organizing air travel.Finalist DAFES AWARDS '25 — Product Design
