MOTION DESIGN THAT MAKES IDEAS VISIBLE
I’m Alexander Sharov, a motion designer working across 2D animation, 3D and visual communication. I develop projects from concept research and visual experimentation to final production.
I create animated visuals for brands, media and cultural projects, combining graphic design, typography, 3D and movement to translate ideas into distinctive visual experiences.

APPROACH
I start by defining the core idea and finding a visual language that supports it. I use composition, colour, texture, typography and movement to build a coherent concept, adapting the solution to the format and its intended audience.
My work ranges from short promotional videos and animated graphics to experimental title sequences and architectural projection.
2×2 TV CHANNEL
Animated ident for a television channel
BRIEF
The Russian TV channel 2×2 organised a competition to create a short video featuring its logo in a distinctive personal style. The challenge was to develop an experimental animation while keeping the logo recognisable within a five-second sequence.

PROCESS
Inspired by Futurama, I explored the movement of Hypnotoad’s pupils and the microscopic imagery associated with the series’ sci-fi aesthetic.
The animation places the logo against abstract, acid-coloured background, where it gradually emerges from beneath black 2D shapes. I experimented with visual effects and colour balance to develop the organic, surreal composition.

After the initial selection, the organisers requested revisions to improve the logo’s recognisability. I reduced the blur and extended the time the logo remained clearly visible, preserving the visual concept while making the ident easier to read.

RESULT
The five-second ident won the competition and was subsequently broadcast on 2×2. The competition and my contribution were also featured in an article on the channel’s official website.
The project demonstrated how to balance an experimental visual style with the practical requirements of logo recognition in short-form animation.
PRAVILA ZHIZNI
Promotional video for a culture and lifestyle magazine
BRIEF
The brief was to create a 15-second promotional video for Pravila Zhizni, a magazine exploring culture, art, science and society. Designed for events and presentations, the video needed to communicate the magazine’s range of subjects through a dynamic and memorable visual sequence.

PROCESS
I combined 2D motion graphics with stylised 3D objects representing photography, literature, cinema and music.
Rectangles of different sizes became the central graphic element. Objects emerge from these shapes, turning a simple geometric form into a framework for presenting different cultural references. The rectangles also evoke printed pages and mobile screens, connecting the concept to the formats through which people encounter information every day.

RESULT
The result was a 15-second promotional concept combining 2D graphics and 3D animation in a unified visual sequence. The recurring rectangular shapes connect the different subjects, giving the video a consistent graphic structure while allowing each object to stand out.
BLADE RUNNER
Alternative title sequence and promotional graphics
Исходный размер 1920x810
BRIEF
This concept reinterprets the opening titles of Blade Runner (1982). The challenge was to develop an alternative visual direction while preserving the film’s distinctive atmosphere and historical context.
Rather than representing the future through contemporary digital aesthetics, I focused on how people in the early 1980s imagined technology and artificial life.
Исходный размер 1920x1010
PROCESS
The concept is built around the idea of «the future as imagined in the past.» I combined primitive 3D graphics with minimalist 2D animation inspired by early computer graphics.
I extended the concept beyond the title sequence by developing a series of merchandise concepts and an animated promotional poster. Both applications reuse the same graphic language to create a consistent visual direction across different formats.

Merchandise (keychain for car, wallet, polaroid, phone cases)
RESULT
The project resulted in an alternative title sequence, merchandise concepts and an animated promotional poster. Together, these elements demonstrate how a single visual concept can be adapted to different formats while maintaining a consistent connection to the source material.
