I’m Kristina Chekhomova — independet digital and film photographer|filmmaker from Russia, Ural. I take photos of people, architecture, things and nature. I tend to use black and white contrast style in my work. When people come to my photoshoot I always tell — do whatever you want. let’s just enjoy the process. it’s the crucial sense. nothing to loose — free for choose.
my hometown is called «graveyard of constructivism». there are lots of post-soviet modernism’s buildings. unfortunately, most of them are destroyed.
I am always amazed by straight lights, minimalism and brutalism in the architecture and design. One day I tried to make some photos of them. As a result the destroying buildings has had a new live in my photos.
what can I do to help with saving the architecture? i can take a pictures of them.
it’s my big pain that nowadays that’s a war among us. are we enemies? we are people. we have a one planet and one world.
I was searching for common things in post-soviet architecture in Yerevan and in my hometown. Strong lines, contrast, different angles. There are the things which are familiar not only in the architecture. There are familiar between us.
strong lines — like a strong temper inside the people contrast — like contrasting sides inside the people different angles — like different minds
to build the future we need to save the past
the project was exhibited in Yerevan during RezinArtResidency
